Working Hunter
What Is Working Hunter ?
Riders are required to jump a course of rustic fences. In horse ranks, a ride judge will then officiate the performance. Conformation is also assessed before the marks for each section are added together to produce the final line-up.

A little bit about our wonderful pair of judges !
About Pierre -
I have been riding since the age of 5 (A long time ago!), in my youth I was a member of Pony Club assisting to run rallies, shows and anything else I could get roped into.
I then spent several years at a small showing yard where I learnt a great deal which gave me an insight to the world of showing. Although we had mainly ridden show ponies we also had working hunter ponies & horses, all theses were shown with considerable success up and down the country.
In time I changed to Show Jumping and, in those years, have qualified for Horse of the Year show on a few occasions one of the First times being in the the Senior Foxhunter Championship, then followed by two senior British Novice championships.
I have since Ridden at a lower national level for the past 30 years and still dip my toes into the working Hunters occasionally!
About Paul -
I started riding at the age of 2 and progressed onto Lead rein & first ridden show ponies with considerable success.
After competing the 12.2hh show ponies I had the Show Bumping bug took over and I was hooked!
Along the way I Unfortunately just missed the Young rider’s championship held at Olympia by one point back in the 1980’s.
Since then I have competed at most national championships even after my stroke in 2016.
Now I continue to support venues with my BS course building and judging which gives me great pleasure. Like my co judge when time permitted, I dipped back in to Working Hunter Classes.
Our Course Builder
Having been lucky enough to grow up with horses first just ponies at home then going onto compete in various disciplines at various levels on various horses both my own and of clients usually deemed difficult or quirky!
I then became interested in course design first locally then was lucky enough to shadow Steve Williams being involved in show design/build teams at various high level shows like Chepstow international, wales and west, royal highland the new forest show and royal Cornwall for several years.
I enjoy both the showjumping and working hunter competitions as well as eventing. I have designed/built many royal international and horse of the year show qualifies for the British show horse society bsps nps as well as many qualifier classes for there associations winter and summer championships.
Also designing/building many competitions for British riding clubs and there various disciplines as well as there qualifier competitions also designing/building for unaffiliated and British eventing horse trials.
